After having to call an “audible” during my workout on Wednesday like I mentioned in Thursday’s update, you’ll be happy to know that I bounced back on Friday and absolutely crushed my workout.
It was one of those workouts that is feeling so amazing you just don’t want to stop, so it turned into an almost 2 hour session. A welcome change after the disappointing workout on Wednesday.
But that just goes to prove my point from Thursday’s email that it is so important to develop the self awareness to listen to your body and modify your workouts when you need to.
Had I tried to force out my lower body day when I just wasn’t feeling it, I probably wouldn’t have felt as good as I felt on Friday.
Like I’ve mentioned before, not every workout is going to be sunshine and unicorns, but if you listen to your body (honestly) and put in the effort consistently you’ll be back on top in no time.
And with that, let’s get into what I’ve found to be worthy in the world of fitness and wellness this week:
BUILD YOUR BODY
You’ve probably heard me talk about the hierarchy of fat loss before and Alwyn Cosgrove is the person who taught it to me when I was doing some coaching with him years ago. This article is one of those timeless ones that should be printed off and hung on your wall to reference constantly.
OPTIMIZE YOUR NUTRITION
3 Examples Of #FakeNews – Examine.com
In the world of nutrition there is no shortage of insane media claims as people cherry pick data from research studies to support their own agenda. These are 3 of the worst, #2 being the one that drives me the most insane.
CONQUER YOUR KITCHEN
Herbed Cauliflower Rice w/ Eggs & Goat Cheese – Sarah Fragoso
Because everyone should be eating eggs, here’s a nice spin to give your eggs a bit more variety in the taste department.
STRENGTHEN YOUR MIND
Your Breath Is Your Brain’s Remote Control – Mindful.org
Do you ever think about how you’re breathing? If not, you should. New research is showing a connection between nasal breathing and cognitive function like memory. I would assume this is also why our sense of smell always brings back such strong memory associations instantly.
There you have it, some weekend reading covering all the bases of fitness and wellness.
Have a stellar weekend and we’ll chat again next week.
