I’m not sure why, but it really bothers me when guys workout in hoodies. I instantly respect them less and label them a douchebag in my head.
It’s not right to make snap judgements like that, but that’s just honestly where my head goes. Like I get the thought process – you’re trying to raise your body temperature, sweat more which in theory should make your muscles “warmer” and enable you to lose more fat.
That’s good in theory, but there’s not much evidence to support that. It falls in the “bro science” category with things like fasted cardio. Something that’s been done for so long by bodybuilders that it is deemed 100% fact.
Only, when you look at comparisons in research studies, there’s no noticeable difference between sweating more and the amount of fat you’re burning. In fact, the opposite is true, exposing yourself to cold and forcing your body to raise it’s own internal temperature does show beneficial fat burning effects.
I’m not really sure where I was going with that, just something that was on my mind this morning while I was training.
Moral of the story – don’t be a douchebag. Unless you’re The Rock, then you can do whatever you want, because you’re awesome.
BTW, if you’re not following me on Instagram, you should be (@cmakarchuk) because I’m posting more about my workouts and diet lately in my Instagram Story.
